This week, something happened here at F One Technologies that really hit home how sophisticated cyber threats have become.
Logan Robertson, one of our Communications Specialists, received what looked like a genuine email from a prospective client complete with a PDF attachment. Thinking it was legitimate, he opened the file.
Within minutes, our cybersecurity systems detected over 5,000 login attempts from the US, all targeting his account.
The good news…
- Our defences kicked in instantly.
- The attack was stopped.
- No data was compromised.
Logan was understandably upset and disappointed to think he might have let the team down. Like so many people in growing businesses, Logan is focused on providing great service and trusted advice, and this incident was a reminder that even the most careful among us can be caught off guard.
It was a great reminder that no one is immune to phishing even people who know what to look for. We used the incident as a chance to run extra training and strengthen our team’s awareness even further.
