Hi everyone!
Openreach have just announced that from 5th September 2023, WLR products (PSTN & ISDN digital phone lines) will no longer be sold in the UK. This will not only have a significant affect on businesses still using those traditional phone lines, but it’ll also affect some companies using ADSL and/or FTTC broadband products.
We’re constantly getting asked questions about the WLR switch off, so I thought I would share with you some information about it, as well as the benefits of cloud-based phone systems for businesses.
The WLR network has been the backbone of telephone communication for decades, but it is now aging and becoming more expensive to maintain. As a result, Openreach has decided to phase out the network in favour of newer technologies like VoIP and SIP.
If your business is still using analogue or digital phone lines, it is essential to start planning your move to the cloud right now. Here are some of the reasons why…
Cost Savings
One of the primary benefits of cloud-based phone systems is cost savings. Traditional phone systems require physical hardware and phone lines to be installed, which can be costly to set up and maintain. With a cloud-based phone system, all you need is an internet connection, which can be much cheaper than a traditional phone line.
In addition, cloud-based phone systems typically offer more predictable pricing models that are based on the number of users or features you need, making it easier to budget for phone services.
Flexibility and Scalability
Cloud-based phone systems offer greater flexibility and scalability than traditional phone systems. With a cloud-based phone system, you can easily add or remove users, features, and functionality as your business grows and changes. This makes it easy to adapt your phone system to meet your changing needs.
In addition, cloud-based phone systems are typically more customizable than traditional phone systems, allowing you to tailor the system to your specific business needs.
Remote Working Capabilities
Remote work has become increasingly popular in recent years, and the COVID-19 pandemic has only accelerated this trend. With a cloud-based phone system, remote work is easier than ever. Your employees can make and receive calls, video calls, and messages from anywhere with an internet connection.
This means that your business can continue to operate even if your employees are working from home or on the go. It also means that you can hire employees from anywhere in the world, increasing your pool of potential talent.
Easy to Use
Cloud-based phone systems are typically easier to use than traditional phone systems. With a cloud-based phone system, all of the features and functionality are accessible through a user-friendly online portal. This makes it easy for your employees to access the features they need and makes training new employees much easier.
In addition, cloud-based phone systems are typically more reliable than traditional phone systems, with fewer downtime issues and better disaster recovery options.
At F One Technologies Ltd, we understand that the switch to a cloud-based phone system can be daunting, especially for businesses that have been using the WLR network for years. That’s why we offer a range of products and services designed to make the transition as smooth as possible.
