I’ve always believed in the power of community, dedication, and resilience, values we hold dear not just in business but in our personal lives too. That’s why I’m especially proud to share an inspiring initiative from Katie Viola, Head of School and SENDCO at one of our customers, St Columba C of E Primary Academy in Fareham, Hampshire. Katie’s unwavering commitment to her students is nothing short of remarkable.
Katie and her husband, Alex (our very own Co-Founder & Operations Director here at F One), are taking on one of the toughest physical challenges around: Tough Mudder. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s a brutal 10-mile race packed with 20 obstacles designed to push participants both physically and mentally. But what makes this challenge truly special is the mission driving it.
Katie’s aiming to raise £2,000.00 for St Columba, a school that’s been on an extraordinary journey of transformation. In June, they achieved their first-ever ‘Good’ rating from OFSTED, an incredible milestone that reflects the dedication and hard work of Katie and her fantastic team. Now, they’re looking to build on that success by providing new opportunities for their students, especially those that broaden their horizons and give them unique, once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
With school budgets tighter than ever, the money they raise will go directly toward projects that enrich the students’ educational experiences. These aren’t just opportunities for academic growth, they’re life-enhancing experiences that the children will carry with them long after they leave primary school.
I know firsthand just how determined Katie is, and it’s no surprise she’s taking on this challenge. Not only to test her limits but to set an example for the children of St Columba. She’s showing them that with the right mindset and sheer determination, you can achieve anything.
Katie mentioned that training for Tough Mudder hasn’t exactly gone according to plan, but in true St Columba spirit, she’s pressing forward with the same dedication that helped transform the school. As Katie said herself, “I don’t give up on anything,” and I’m confident she’ll tackle this challenge with flying colours.
And if they hit their target of £2,000.00, Katie’s even promised to wear a GoPro during the race, so the whole school can follow along as they push through the mud, sweat, and obstacles! It’s not just about finishing the race, it’s about raising funds for a cause that will have a lasting impact on the children she cares so deeply about.
I encourage everyone to support this fantastic cause. No matter the size of your donation, you’ll not only motivate Katie and her team, but also make a real difference in the lives of the students at St Columba.
You can donate through Katie’s JustGiving Crowdfunding page here: Katie Viola’s JustGiving Page.
Let’s help Katie reach her goal and give these children the incredible opportunities they deserve.
Good luck, Katie and Alex, we’re all rooting for you!
